How do I qualify for a Non Lucrative Spanish Residence Visa

In order to qualify for UK residents to qualify for the Non Lucrative Spanish Residence Visaspan style="background-color:transparent; color:rgb(0, 0, 0); font-family:arial; font-size:12pt">, you need to prove that you have the means to support you and your family. This can include pensions, investments, or income resulting from work carried out in other countries. The amount of income set as a minimum is calculated based on the Spanish IPREM, Indicador Público de Renta de Efectos Múltiples (Multiple Effects Public Income Indicator), and increases per each family member included in the application. You must also take out a private health insurance policy with a Spanish insurance company. Certified translations of these documents (and several others) need to be provided by a Sworn Translator, which Certified Translation Services UK can arrange for all its UK clients.

Documents required for Non Lucrative Spanish Residence Visa

In order for UK residents to apply for a Non Lucrative Spanish Residence Visa, in addition to the National Visa Application Form and the Form EX-01, the Spanish authorities require several documents with Spanish translations provided by Sworn Translators.  Please see below the full list of documents which will be required by the Spanish Consulate in the UK, all of which need to be translated to Spanish by a Sworn Translator, which can be arranged by Certified Translation Services UK:

  1. Notarised document outlining the reason (including where you intend staying while in Spain and the length of your stay)  for applying for a Non Lucrative Spanish Residence Visa.

  2. Proof of adequate funds, as outlined above. This can include pensions, investments, or other income sources (however they cannot originate from any employment or professional activity in Spain).

  3. Proof of international medical insurance while in Spain, issued by a Spanish insurance agency.

  4. Police Criminal Record clearance certificate including fingerprint verification, issued less than 3 months from the application date. In the event that you are also applying for your spouse, your spouse also requires a Police Criminal Record clearance certificate.  Additionally, police records from any other countries where you have lived during the past 5 years are required. The Police Criminal Record clearance certificates must be Apostille legalised.

  5. Medical Certificate, in the form of a doctor’s statement issued less than 3 months from the application date on the letterhead of the doctor or medical clinic, signed by an M.D. The statement should confirm that ‘the patient has been examined and found free of any contagious diseases according to the International Health Regulation 2005’.

  6. Dependants – in the event that the application includes family dependants, a Marriage Certificate (legalised by Apostille) is needed for the spouse, and a Birth Certificate (legalised by Apostille) is needed for each dependant under 18 years of age.
